  • Author: Sally Roberts

Description

Looking for a hearty and comforting morning dish that impresses? This Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza is a delicious twist on two breakfast favorites: Southern-style biscuits & gravy and cheesy breakfast pizza. With a fluffy biscuit crust, creamy sausage gravy, melty cheeses, and baked eggs on top, it’s the ultimate comfort food for breakfast or brunch. Perfect for feeding a crowd and easy enough for a weekend treat, this easy recipe is also ideal for breakfast ideas, brunch gatherings, or even a cozy breakfast-for-dinner option.

Ingredients

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough

1/2 pound breakfast sausage

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup whole milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a pizza pan or baking sheet.

2. Press biscuit dough into the pan, flattening to form a crust with slightly raised edges. Pre-bake for 6–8 minutes until just set.

3. While the crust is baking, cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked.

4. Sprinkle flour over the sausage, stir, and cook for 1 minute.

5. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until thickened and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

6. Spread the sausage gravy over the pre-baked crust evenly.

7. Sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.

8. Use the back of a spoon to create 4 small wells in the cheese. Crack an egg into each well.

9. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until egg whites are set and yolks are still slightly runny.

10. Garnish with fresh parsley, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Pre-baking the biscuit crust helps avoid sogginess from the gravy—don’t skip this step!

For a runnier egg yolk, check the pizza at the 12-minute mark; for a firmer yolk, add 2–3 more minutes.

Spice it up with hot sauce or red pepper flakes in the sausage gravy if you like heat.
