Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
0.75 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or almond extract)
2.25 cups all-purpose flour
0.5 teaspoon salt
Optional: festive colored sugars or sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
1. Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
2. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
3. Gradually add flour and salt; mix until dough forms without overmixing.
4. Load dough into cookie press and press onto ungreased, cool baking sheets.
5. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired.
6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes until lightly golden on the edges.
7. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Make sure the baking sheet is cool and ungreased—this helps the dough stick when pressing.
For extra festive flair, try almond extract and red/green sprinkles.
Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
