Description

If you’re searching for an easy recipe that transforms everyday ingredients into a luxurious dish, this one’s for you. Creamy Baked Onions with Asiago Cheese is a heartwarming, savory side that’s rich in flavor and beautifully comforting. Ideal for weeknight meals, dinner ideas, or even holiday side dishes, this is a quick, crowd-pleasing comfort food made with just a handful of ingredients.

Ingredients

2 large yellow onions

1 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup grated Asiago cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

2 teaspoons fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon chopped parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or olive oil.

2. Peel and halve the onions, then slice them into thick rounds.

3. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onions in olive oil or butter for 5–7 minutes until they begin to caramelize.

4. Transfer the onions to the baking dish, layering slightly overlapping. Add thyme evenly across the top.

5. Pour the cream over the onions and sprinkle with grated Asiago cheese.

6. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

7. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley or chives, and serve warm.

Notes

Use sweet onions if you prefer an even milder flavor.

If you don’t have Asiago, Parmesan or Gruyère are excellent substitutes.

For a crispier top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking.
