There’s just something magical about a warm dish of Easy Apple Crisp: the sweet aroma of baked apples mingling with cinnamon and brown sugar, all crowned with a golden, buttery oat topping. It’s the kind of comfort dessert that brings you back to childhood, perfect for cool evenings or when you need a simple, crowd-pleasing treat. Whether you serve it fresh from the oven or slightly chilled, this easy apple crisp is a classic recipe that never disappoints. With pantry staples and a few apples, you can create a cozy, sweet, and crunchy dessert in under an hour. Top it with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate dessert experience!

Ingredients

6 medium apples (about 2 1/2 lbs), peeled and sliced

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch square or similar baking dish.

2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Spread evenly in the baking dish.

3. In another bowl, combine 3/4 cup flour, oats, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. Add the cubed butter and work it into the dry ingredients using your fingers or a pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly.

4. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture.

5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and apples are bubbling. Let cool 10–15 minutes before serving.

6. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

For extra crunch, stir in 1/3 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) to the topping before baking.

This recipe is just as delicious with pears or a mix of apples and berries.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; reheat in the oven for best texture.
