Ingredients

2 cups broccoli florets

2 cups cauliflower florets

12 oz cooked sausage, sliced

1 cup heavy cream

4 oz cream cheese

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

½ tsp paprika (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish and set it aside.

2. Steam or blanch the broccoli and cauliflower for 3–4 minutes until just tender. Drain well.

3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sliced sausage to enhance the flavor.

4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream and cream cheese until smooth. Add half the cheddar and all the Parmesan; stir until creamy.

5. Layer the broccoli, cauliflower, and sausage in the baking dish. Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the top.

6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Make sure the vegetables are well-drained to avoid a watery casserole.

For extra flavor, try smoked sausage or spicy Italian sausage.

You can prepare the casserole a day ahead and bake it just before serving.
