Ingredients
6 cups fresh apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
Instructions
1. Peel, core, and slice about 6 cups of apples. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1 tbsp flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread into a greased 9×9 dish.
2. In another bowl, mix remaining flour, brown sugar, oats, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
3. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until bubbly and golden.
4. Let cool 10 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor and texture.
Letting the cobbler rest before serving helps the juices settle.
For added crunch, toss in some chopped pecans or walnuts into the crumble topping.
