Description

Craving a rich, comforting meal that tastes like a Sunday dinner at grandma’s? These Smothered Turkey Wings Gravy deliver fall-off-the-bone tenderness wrapped in a velvety, herb-scented gravy. Perfect for cozy evenings or when you need comfort food with soul. This easy dinner recipe is full of flavor, uses simple ingredients, and makes excellent leftovers. Ideal for those searching for quick meal prep, family food ideas, and Southern dinner recipes.

Ingredients

6 large turkey wings

2 medium yellow onions, sliced

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 carrots, chopped

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups chicken broth

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 sprigs fresh rosemary

4 sprigs fresh thyme

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pat dry turkey wings and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat. Brown turkey wings on all sides, then set aside.

3. Add onions, garlic, and carrots to the same pan. Sauté until onions are translucent and slightly golden.

4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stir well to coat. Slowly pour in chicken broth while stirring to prevent lumps.

5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, and thyme. Simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.

6. Return turkey wings to the pan. Spoon some gravy over the top. Cover tightly with foil or a lid.

7. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Remove cover for the last 15 minutes to allow gravy to thicken and wings to brown.

8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or cornbread. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Browning the turkey wings before baking adds deeper flavor—don’t skip this step!

Use a cast iron or heavy-bottomed pan for the best caramelization and even baking.

If using dried herbs, reduce quantity to 1 teaspoon each for rosemary and thyme.
