Description
Rich, nutty, and beautifully indulgent, this Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie is the Southern dessert you didn’t know you needed. With a golden flaky crust, a gooey center bursting with semisweet chocolate and toasted pecans, and a hint of vanilla, this pie is as showstopping as it is comforting. It’s one of the best easy recipes for holidays, dinner ideas, or a quick dessert when you’re craving classic Southern food ideas.
Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
3 large eggs
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup whole pecan halves
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Place your 9-inch pie crust into a pie plate, crimp the edges, and set aside in the fridge while you make the filling.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth and well combined.
3. Stir in the chopped pecans and semisweet chocolate chips. Pour the mixture into the chilled crust. Gently arrange the whole pecan halves on top for a decorative finish.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the pie for 50–55 minutes, or until the center is just set and slightly puffed. If the edges of the crust brown too quickly, cover them with foil halfway through.
5. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Serve at room temperature or slightly warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Let the pie cool completely before slicing to help it set.
You can toast pecans beforehand for even more depth of flavor.
Tent the pie crust edges with foil halfway through baking to avoid over-browning.
