Ingredients
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons melted butter
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
1. Warm the milk until it’s warm to the touch but not hot. Stir in the sugar and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
2. In a large bowl, combine bread flour and salt. Add the milk mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes (or 6–8 minutes in a stand mixer with a dough hook) until smooth and elastic.
4. Transfer to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 10–12 equal portions. Shape each into a ball and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
6. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops with a beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
8. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
9. Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm or at room temperature.
