Ingredients

40 saltine crackers

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup holiday sprinkles (or more, as desired)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 10×15-inch rimmed baking sheet with foil and lightly spray with nonstick spray. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the pan completely.

2. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar. Bring to a gentle boil, then cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes until thickened.

3. Immediately pour the hot toffee over the crackers. Spread evenly with a spatula to cover all the crackers.

4. Bake for 5 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling and beginning to soak into the crackers.

5. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for 5 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate smoothly over the top.

6. Add sprinkles right away while chocolate is still warm.

7. Allow the pan to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for 1 hour, or until fully set.

8. Once set, lift the foil out of the pan and break the candy into 40 pieces. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, stir the toffee mixture constantly and don’t overcook, to avoid graininess.

You can use different toppings: try chopped nuts, a drizzle of white chocolate, or crushed peppermint candies.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze for longer storage.
