Description

Butterfinger Puppy Chow is a crunchy, chocolatey, peanut-buttery no-bake dessert snack that comes together fast and tastes like a candy bar party mix. This easy recipe is perfect for quick snacks, holiday dessert trays, party food ideas, lunchbox treats, movie night snacks, and simple no-bake food ideas when you want something sweet, fun, and shareable.

Ingredients

9 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 cups powdered sugar

1 1/2 cups chopped Butterfinger candy bars, divided

Instructions

1. Add the Rice Chex cereal to a very large mixing bowl and set it aside.

2. Chop the Butterfinger candy bars into small pieces, reserving about 1/4 cup for topping.

3. Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.

4. Stir the vanilla extract and salt into the melted chocolate mixture.

5. Pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently fold until the cereal is evenly coated.

6. Transfer the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag or lidded container. Add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until well coated.

7. Add the chopped Butterfinger pieces and shake or stir gently to combine.

8. Spread the puppy chow on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 10 to 15 minutes to set.

9. Sprinkle with the reserved Butterfinger pieces and serve.

Notes

Use fresh cereal so the puppy chow stays crisp after coating.

Let the melted chocolate mixture cool for 1 minute before pouring if it feels very hot, so the cereal does not soften.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool place for the best crunch.
