Description

These Christmas Magic Layer Brownie Bars are a festive holiday dessert with a fudgy brownie base, gooey sweetened condensed milk topping, coconut, nuts, chocolate chips, and red and green candies. This easy recipe is perfect for Christmas baking, holiday dessert trays, party food ideas, simple dessert ideas, and make-ahead treats for sharing.

Ingredients

1 box family-size brownie mix for a 9×13-inch pan

2 large eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup water

1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup red and green candy-coated chocolates

1/2 cup white chocolate chips

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Lightly spray with nonstick baking spray.

2. In a large bowl, mix the brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.

3. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

4. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the brownie batter.

5. Sprinkle the shredded coconut, chopped nuts, semi-sweet chocolate chips, red and green candies, white chocolate chips, and mini chocolate chips over the top.

6. Gently press the toppings into the condensed milk layer so they stick without sinking fully into the brownie batter.

7. Bake for 32 to 38 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center no longer jiggles.

8. Cool completely in the pan, then chill for 1 hour for cleaner slices.

9. Lift the bars out using the parchment paper and cut into squares before serving.

Notes

Chill the bars before slicing so the gooey magic layer sets and the squares hold their shape.

Use parchment paper with overhang to lift the entire slab from the pan easily.

Do not overbake; the bars should be set at the edges but still soft and fudgy in the center.
