Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup red and green sprinkles
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 tablespoon extra sprinkles for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a standard 9×5-inch loaf pan. Line with parchment paper for easier removal.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract.
5. Add the dry ingredients in batches, alternating with the milk, and mix just until combined.
6. Gently fold in the red and green sprinkles.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Whisk together the powdered sugar and heavy cream to make a thick glaze.
11. Spoon the glaze over the cooled bread and top with extra sprinkles.
12. Let the glaze set, then slice and serve.
Notes
Use jimmies-style sprinkles for the best color hold in the batter and less bleeding.
Do not overmix once the flour is added or the loaf may turn dense instead of soft and tender.
For the cleanest glaze finish, make sure the bread is completely cool before topping it.
