Description

This Homemade Twix Bar Recipe is the perfect easy dessert when you want buttery shortbread, soft caramel, and smooth chocolate in one irresistible bite. Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, divided

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup light brown sugar

2 tablespoons corn syrup

2 cups milk chocolate, chopped or chips

1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.

2. Beat 1/2 cup butter with the granulated sugar until creamy.

3. Mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.

4. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

5. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until lightly golden around the edges, then let it cool completely.

6. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the remaining 1/2 cup butter, sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and corn syrup.

7. Stir constantly for 8 to 10 minutes, until the caramel thickens and turns golden.

8. Pour the caramel over the cooled shortbread and spread evenly.

9. Chill for 1 hour, or until the caramel is firm enough to slice.

10. Lift the slab from the pan and cut into 16 bars.

11. Melt the milk chocolate with the oil until smooth.

12. Dip each bar into the melted chocolate or spoon chocolate over each bar, then place on parchment paper.

13. Chill again until the chocolate is set, then serve.

Notes

Use parchment paper with overhang so the bars lift out cleanly for slicing.

Let the shortbread cool fully before adding caramel so the layers stay neat.

Chill the bars before cutting and after coating for the cleanest finish and best texture.
