Description

These Maple Brown Sugar Crinkle Cookies are soft, chewy, and full of cozy maple flavor with rich brown sugar in every bite. This easy recipe is perfect for a healthy snack swap, sweet breakfast ideas, easy dessert planning, holiday baking, and everyday food ideas when you want a simple homemade treat that looks beautiful and tastes even better.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup light brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon maple extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

4. Mix in the maple syrup, maple extract, and vanilla extract until smooth.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until a soft dough forms.

6. Cover the dough and chill for 1 hour.

7. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

8. Scoop the chilled dough into balls, then roll each one generously in powdered sugar.

9. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet with space between them.

10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are puffed, crackled, and set around the edges.

11. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough is important for thick cookies and a strong crinkle effect.

Roll the dough very generously in powdered sugar so the white cracks stay visible after baking.

Do not overbake the cookies because the centers will continue to set as they cool.
