Ingredients
12 cups brioche bread cubes
1 1/2 cups diced ham
1 1/2 cups diced turkey
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 cup raspberry jam
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread half of the bread cubes into the bottom.
2. Layer half of the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread.
3. Add the remaining bread cubes, then top with the remaining ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese.
4. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, heavy cream, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
5. Pour the custard evenly over the casserole and gently press the bread down so it absorbs the liquid.
6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for a make-ahead breakfast.
7. Preheat the oven to 350°F and let the casserole sit at room temperature while the oven heats.
8. Drizzle the melted butter over the top, cover loosely with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
9. Remove the foil and bake for 15 to 20 minutes more, until golden and set in the center.
10. Rest for 10 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, sprinkle with parsley, and serve warm with raspberry jam.
Notes
Use slightly stale brioche, challah, or French bread so the casserole holds its shape and does not become mushy.
For the best make-ahead texture, assemble the casserole the night before and bake it fresh in the morning.
Let the casserole rest before slicing so the custard sets and each serving comes out clean.
