Description

This Strawberry Heaven on Earth Cake is a dreamy no-bake dessert made with fluffy angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding, whipped topping, and sweet strawberry filling. It is an easy recipe for parties, a quick dessert for potlucks, a beautiful summer dessert, and one of those simple food ideas that works for birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, and make-ahead dessert tables.

Ingredients

1 prepared angel food cake, cut into cubes

1 can 21 ounces strawberry pie filling

1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

1 package 3.4 ounces instant vanilla pudding mix

2 cups cold milk

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 tub 8 ounces whipped topping, thawed

1/4 cup white chocolate shavings, optional

Instructions

1. Cut the angel food cake into bite-size cubes.

2. Place half of the cake cubes in an even layer in a 9×13-inch dish.

3. Spoon half of the strawberry pie filling over the cake.

4. Sprinkle half of the chopped fresh strawberries over the strawberry filling.

5. In a large bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until slightly thickened.

6. Stir in the sour cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth.

7. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the strawberry layer.

8. Repeat with the remaining cake cubes, strawberry pie filling, fresh strawberries, and pudding mixture.

9. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the top.

10. Garnish with white chocolate shavings or extra strawberries if desired.

11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best texture.

12. Serve chilled.

Notes

For the best texture, chill the cake overnight so the angel food cake absorbs the creamy layers.

Drain any extra liquid from fresh or thawed strawberries to keep the dessert from becoming watery.

Use a clear trifle bowl instead of a 9×13-inch dish when you want a prettier layered presentation.
